April 2017... I was delighted to one again take part in Printfest (www.printfest.uk) during which I won the Haigh Award; a selected print award for my new etching 'Window Light XIV'. Haigh architects are one of several sponsors of Printfest, the UK's foremost artist-led printmaking festival. Dedicated to the exhibition and sale of contemporary prints, the Printfest weekend is held each early May bank holiday at the Coronation Hall in the Festival town of Ulverston, Cumbria.

Februrary - April 2017... I shared an exhibition with Bronwen Deane at Gateshead Central LIbrary, 'Copperplate'.

(15 Kirkgate, Thirsk, North Yorkshire YO7 1PQ, 01845 522479, www.zillahbellgallery.co.uk) It's a wonderful gallery that exhibits the work of many printmakers that I really admire, and I'm very excited to be showing some work there.

June 2016 ... from over 2000 applicants, I was thrilled to be one of 26 artists chosen to participate in the final show for the New Light Prize Exhibition held at Panter & Hall in London....www.newlight-art.org.uk/prize-exhibition/ ... www.panterandhall.com/exhibition/new-light
December 2015 Durham Christmas Festival. Once again myself and my sister will be donning the thermals to man our stall in the Cathedral Cloisters from 4th - 6th of December, selling a range of cards, prints and small etchings. No tickets required for this market! So come up to escape the mayhem of the marquee on Palace Green, and browse the goodies on sale at the Local Food Producers Market.... the mulled cider was particularly good last year... :o) www.durhamchristmasfestival.com
November 2015 LUMIERE DURHAM. For the duration of Lumiere, several of the studios in Fowlers Yard will be open late, including my own studio until 11pm each night, depending on footfall and my stamina (!). Fowlers Yard will be home to the 'Wave' light sculpture by Stu Langley. For more info about the festival, go to www.lumiere-festival.com/durham-2015/
October 2015, New Light Prize Exhibition at the Bowes Museum in County Durham. New Light is an organisation that supports and rewards the skills of artists in the North East of England. Out of almost 2000 entries submitted, I was thrilled to be one of 61 artists chosen to be represented in the exhibition, which opened in the Bowes Museum on Friday 16th October. I had 3 artworks selected to hang in the 84 piece display. More info about the exhibtion can be found here....www.newlight-art.org.uk/prize-exhibition/ ... and the exhibition will move to the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate during Februrary 2016, then finally to Panter and Hall Fine Art Gallery in London.

August 2015. Art in the Pen in Skipton (14th - 16th, www.artinthepen.org.uk) was a great success! Despite the downpours on Friday, we all managed to set up in time for the preview that evening, and the event hosted record number of visitors over the weekend. It was organised really well, I hope to go again in the future.

May/June 2015 Right at the end of May, I took part in a 24hr relay race at Maiden Castle, Durham, to help raise funds for RT Projects. It's a charity community arts centre, run by Em and Beano... see my post below, from April this year to find out more about it! I produced a woodcut print to commemorate the event, of which I still have just a few prints from the edition available for sale from my studio for a minimum donation of £10. I printed some of the edition of the woodcut whilst going round the track from 6-7am on Sunday 1st June! Please click on the following link to see more photographs of the event.

May 2015: Once again I will shortly be participating in Printfest!! I'm delighted to be once again exhibiting some new work at this very special art fair... it's Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd May, with the preview evening on Friday from 7 - 9pm. Click on the thumbnails below for further information, or go to www.printfest.uk . I'll have some brand new prints on display, which were printed during April at RT Projects (see info below)

April 2015... due to ongoing and very frustrating difficulties with my printing press, my good friends at RT Projects came to the rescue!! Beano and Em run an 'Open Art Surgery' in Gilesgate, Durham, a vibrant and dynamic community arts centre. It's a fully equipped art studio, print room and photography studio, with materials and equipment for a wide range of art & craft activites. They let me get my hands on their Polymetaal press, and I spent the best part of three weeks printing off my new etching plates and at last getting on top of my preparations for Printfest 2015.

It's a very special place... RT Projects uses creativity in order to help people regain their mental strength and to support them towards living a rich and fulfilled life. They have, for example, sessions to support people with dementia, The Men's Shed which targets those suffering from isolation and loneliness, and sessions for adults with a learning disability.

And Em & Beano certainly saved the day for me. I loved working there, and without their help, I would be press-less, print-less, and basically not very happy.

Hurray for RT Projects!! You can find them at 23 Mill House Court, Gilesgate, Durham, DH1 2JJ, and also at www.facebook.com/rtprojects .

Late December 2014 - the Christmas Festival in the Cloisters was a great success! So we've decided to continue with the offers that we introduced over the weekend until Christmas, with mulitple cards for sale at discount prices, and a wider range of cards and prints on display. There was no fancy dress code for the weekend... just as well, I don't think my 4 thermal layers would have fitted underneath any kind of costume!

December 5- 7, 2014..... myself and my sister have decided to temporarily reunite as Percival Press, to take part in this year's City of Durham Christmas Festival! After our costume triumph in 2012 we couldn't resist it....! It's from Friday 5th - Sunday 7th of December, and we'll again be located up in the Cathedral Cloisters, mingling with the Local Food Producers Market. The thinking caps are on for the costumes..... and the thermal underwear is at the ready.

The Totally Locally Durham Fiver Fest runs from Thursday 21st to Monday 25th August. There are lots of offers on from Durham's independent businesses, and I'm offering 3 cards for the price of 2 (normally £2.50 each) and my reproduction prints will be for sale for £5 (normally £10).... but there are only a few of these left.... www.totallylocallydurham.co.uk

June 27th - August 9th 2014; The INTERNATIONAL PRINT BIENNALE organised by NORTHERN PRINT will include my studio in Unit 2! Find out more about the IPB here; www.internationalprintbiennale.org.uk Click on the thumbnail below for further information. The opening hours for my studio are slightly different during this period; 10am - 12pm then 2pm - 6pm.

June 1st 2014; STUDIO RELOCATION; Percival Press is expanding! My sister and myself will no longer share a studio, as I will relocate to Unit 2, just further down the street, whilst Juliet will remain in Unit 6. Unit 2 offers much more space for me to exhibit my work, and to house printmaking equipment that at the moment has to live in my garage...! The opportunity to expand but still stay in Fowlers Yard is too good to miss. Juliet will make good use of the vacated space to at last display some more of her own work; the lower workshop space in 6 will showcase examples of previous commissioned work and give the public more access to her portfolios and range of work on offer.

May 9th - 31st 2014: STILL LIGHT EXHIBITION at St. Cuthbert's College in Durham. I was kindly invited by St. Cuthbest's Society to have a solo show in the college, the preview evening is on the Friday (9th) from 8-10pm... anyone is welcome ! Click on the thumbnails below for further information.

Click on the thumbnails below for further information, or go to www.printfest.uk

January 2014. Northern Print in Newcastle have kindly put me in touch with Jon Chadwick of Durham Distillery, to create a woodcut print for his new website, www.durhamdistillery.co.uk . He produces Durham Gin at his small-batch craft distillery; everything is produced by hand using traditional methods, and a hand crafted copper pot still. Two of my images are used on his website; 'City Lines III', and 'The River Wear', both of which are only available to buy from my studio in Durham.

December 2013..... early this year I decided to move away from my flat in Durham City, and buy a little house In Gilesgate. It turned out to be a massive rennovation project, which occupied me for the most of the year! And so my time in the studio was limited. But I'm happy to say it was well worth the upheaval, and 2014 promises to be a more productive and creative year, back in Fowlers Yard.

December 2012: New Windows in Unit 6! After months of planning and uncertainty, we finally have natural light coming into our studio.... just in time for Christmas.

Art for the House of Lords. In March of this year, Bianco Nero Gallery in Stokesly was invited by the House of Lords Works of Art Committee to submit works for consideration for display in the newly refurbished offices and communal areas of Millbank House. Prints from my 'Cathedral Light' series were submitted to represent the architectural heritage of UK, and a selection of work from the Bianco Nero gallery were selected; in fact 17 out of 20 works were selected. To read more about the project, see the gallery blog, post on 23rd March 2012; http://bianconerogallery.blogspot.co.uk

May 2010: Printmaker of the Year 2010 .

Last year, Northern Print in Newcastle put my name forward and subsequently secured my participation in Printfest, an art fair in Cumbria specifically for printmakers. I was awarded the title of Printmaker of the Year, and invited to exhibit my work alongside nearly 40 other printmakers. I was commissioned to produce prints based on the local area, and gave two demonstrations of my printmaking techniques during the weekend.

Unit 6, Fowlers Yard.

Just before Christmas '09, I came to the end of my extended visit to Denmark, and returned to Durham to set up a studio with my sister Juliet in Fowlers Yard, Durham; www.fowlersyarddurham.co.uk (To visit the website of medical illustrator Juliet Percival, please click here ).

The studio is primarily a workshop, it's not intended to be a gallery and therefore I only hold a small amount of stock there. However visitors are very welcome to come in and find out more about printmaking and what I do.

Bodil Prize 2009.

In September 2009, whilst still based in Denmark, I was awarded the Bodil Prize at Fyns Grafiske Værksted in Odense. It's a printmaking workshop in the heart of Fyn, and every year an award is given to one of it's members, in recognition of his/her contribution to the workshop (that's me in the middle with the red top on!).
